Concussions Galore in the NHL.

Never before have I seen as many concussions in the NHL as I have this season, especially on star players. There are currently 25 players listed with a concussion or a head injury, according to TSN.ca.

  • Marc Savard (BOS)
  • Nathan Gerbe (BUF)
  • Mark Olver (COL)
  • Peter Mueller (COL)
  • Kevin Porter (COL)
  • Chuck Kobasew (COL)
  • Radek Martinek (CBJ)
  • Marcel Goc (FLA)
  • Marek Zidlicky (MIN)
  • Nino Niederreiter (NYI)
  • Marc Staal (NYR)
  • Michael Sauer (NYR)
  • Milan Michalek (OTT)
  • Ian Laperriere (PHI)
  • Claude Giroux (PHI)
  • Chris Pronger (PHI)
  • Brayden Schenn (PHI)
  • Kurt Sauer (PHO)
  • Nick Petersen (PIT)
  • Sidney Crosby (PIT)
  • Kris Letang (PIT)
  • Zbynek Michalek (PIT)
  • Robert Bortuzzo (PIT)
  • Andy McDonald (STL)
  • Jay Beagle (WAS)
This doesn't even include the players who are listed with "upper-body injuries."

The NHL needs to ban all head shots. Concussions are a serious problem that could not only jeopardize these players careers, but also their lives. There should be absolutely no gray area when disciplining a head shot.

*Not all of these concussions were caused by illegal head shots.
